Please remember that you have your math test tomorrow. Study hard :)
Grade 3
Math - Math test tomorrow.
Literacy - Please respond to the question below. I have placed notes from our discussion below to help you form your answers. (Due Monday)
Does a story need
a big problem/climax in order to be interesting?
-Yes, because if the climax was not interesting, then the
rest of the story is boring (MG).
-Yes, because the climax leads down to the problem which
makes the rest of the story more interesting (RM).
-If the climax is not interesting then the rest of the story
does not make sense (DS)
-Yes, because the climax is the main part of the story, and
the main part holds the rest of the text together (JH).
-Yes, because the rest of the text is based on the climax. If you don’t have a climax then the story has
no meaning (ML)
-Not necessarily, because if you have a climax that is good,
but a solution that is not good then the story is not as interesting. You need a good climax and a good solution to
make the text more interesting (EB).
-If the climax is interesting, then the text should be
interesting because the climax is what makes the story interesting (ED).
-Yes, because if the climax is not interesting then the
solution cannot be interesting (NW).
-The story Mr. Carr made up about his Dad making the Blue
Jays didn’t have a climax, but it was still interesting and exciting (JH &
MG).
-I think there are problems in every story, but they might
be small problems. Therefore, the
problem does not have to be big to make the story interesting (NW).
-Only big problems make a climax, not small problems (DS).
-Lots of little problems can lead to a climax (MG).
*Spelling quiz Monday
*Times tables quiz Monday. Please practice answering questions more quickly as I will not be giving as much time to complete the quizzes. It is important that you memorize your times tables so that you know the answers quickly :)
* I am still waiting on some Friday Folders to be returned.
