Good evening everyone,

Please find your homework below....

Please find your homework below.

History - Many of you have not submitted your Acadian Argument Assignment.  This is late.  Please submit immediately.

History - Please complete the question page we worked on in class.  As we discussed in class, you were given enough time to determine the info you needed to answer them, so now you just need to go and complete your thoughts.  If you are confused or have any questions, please let me know.  However, please feel free to use the following notes on the American Revolution to help you answer those questions... (Due tomorrow)

  • In order to pay for the colonies to be defended, Britain started putting in place taxes on the 13 colonies. One tax called the Stamp Act in 1765 required colonists to pay a tax for every piece of printed paper. This caused the colonists to boycott British goods and then that caused the act to be taken away and cancelled in 1766.  Another tax involved taxation on imported goods. One of the most famous conflicts was the Boston Tea Party. This was when they started taxing tea coming into the 13 colonies from Britain. It caused people to get on board and protest by dumping a bunch of the tea into the Boston Harbor. The colonists did not believe that they should be taxed when they had no representation in the government, therefore their plea was no taxation without representation. In general, the colonists were getting really upset and angry and so in 1775 the 13 colonies started to plan to revolt. They held a Continental Congress, and invited Quebec and Nova Scotia to join them. But Quebec and Nova Scotia did not want to get involved because they felt like they were being treated somewhat fairly.
  • Eventually the 13 colonies started to become divided. Loyalists were those who had strong ties to Britain and want to support British ways. Patriots, we're the ones who supported the revolt against the British government. Loyalists in the 13 colonies moved North up to Quebec and Nova Scotia. This was difficult for them because often times they had to leave many of their possessions as well as family and friends. Some First Nation groups such as a head in the Haudenosaunee allies also moved out of 13 colonies. The Haudenosaunee settled in the Grand River Valley.

Have a great evening,

Mr. Carr

Growth Letters

My purpose for assigning you a letter is so that you can grow as a student in our classroom.  These letters will hold you accountable for following the expectations in our classroom and school.  It is my goal to support you through this process.  While you are receiving a consequence, my hope is that both you and your parents do not look at this as “punishment” but instead look at it as “support”.  Everyone makes mistakes, but it is important that we learn from those mistakes so that we can grow.  Please follow the guidelines below….

  1. Please explain the mistake that you made.  (Paragraph 1)
  2. Please explain what you have learned from this mistake (Paragraph 2)
  3. Please explain your growth plan.  What is your plan for ensuring that you don’t make this mistake again?  (Paragraph 3)
  4. Your letter must be at least 150 words.
  5. Your letter is due the next morning.  If it is not handed on time, the length of your letter will increase by 50 words for each day that it is late.  (For example, if it is one day late, the letter must be 200 words).
  6. Each letter must include a student signature and a parent signature.
  7. If you have any questions about why you received a letter, or you feel like you have been treated unfairly in any way, please make sure that you have that conversation with Mr. Carr before leaving school.  It is always fine to ask questions, and our conversation may help me realize that a letter is not needed.  However, if you leave school and do not talk to me, then the letter is due the next day.  You must speak to me on the same
