Good evening everyone!

Please find your homework below.

**Parents - Please see the "Growth Letters" description below.  Your child can also explain this to you.  This is a way to support the learning habits in our classroom in a positive manner, while at the same time keeping students accountable for the expectations in our classroom and school as whole.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Again, the goal of this is to keep students accountable, while supporting their growth, and promoting positive well-being.

Friday Folders - Friday Folders have been sent home.  Please have your parents sign them and return them.

Feedback duotang - Please place the feedback from the Character Carousel in your feedback duotangs.  Everyone should also place the following feedback in their duotangs....

1. Make sure to read over questions after you have answered to make sure you have answered all parts of the question.

2.  Always add all the necessary details to support your answers.  Make sure you have fully explained your thinking.  Questions such as WHY, HOW and other prompts from the push your thinking chart will help with this.

Literacy - Please have a novel to read in class.  You should always have a novel at school to read.

Math - Integers test Monday.  We will also be reviewing decimals and fractions this week so that we can have a test late next week.  Therefore, please make sure you do some studying every night so that you don't leave things until the last minute.  Please see me for extra help in class, and during my "office hours".

Science - Research project (Due November 1st)

Have a great evening!

Growth Letters

My purpose for assigning you a letter is so that you can grow as a student in our classroom.  These letters will hold you accountable for following the expectations in our classroom and school.  It is my goal to support you through this process.  While you are receiving a consequence, my hope is that both you and your parents do not look at this as “punishment” but instead look at it as “support”.  Everyone makes mistakes, but it is important that we learn from those mistakes so that we can grow.  Please follow the guidelines below….

  1. Please explain the mistake that you made.  (Paragraph 1)
  2. Please explain what you have learned from this mistake (Paragraph 2)
  3. Please explain your growth plan.  What is your plan for ensuring that you don’t make this mistake again?  (Paragraph 3)
  4. Your letter must be at least 150 words.
  5. Your letter is due the next morning.  If it is not handed on time, the length of your letter will increase by 50 words for each day that it is late.  (For example, if it is one day late, the letter must be 200 words).
  6. Each letter must include a student signature and a parent signature.
  7. If you have any questions about why you received a letter, or you feel like you have been treated unfairly in any way, please make sure that you have that conversation with Mr. Carr before leaving school.  It is always fine to ask questions, and our conversation may help me realize that a letter is not needed.  However, if you leave school and do not talk to me, then the letter is due the next day.  You must speak to me on the same
