Tuesday May 3, 2016

Good evening ladies & gentlemen,

Please remember that tomorrow is walk to school day.  Please also remember that it is "Carry a Bucket" day in support of the Tin Roof initiative.  Everyone is encouraged to bring a bucket or cup of some sort filled with water to support this cause.  The newspapers are expected, so it should be an exciting time.  Thank you everyone!

Please find your homework below.

Math - Please complete 11.1 in your workbooks (due tomorrow)

Geography - Please read chapter #9 on Agriculture, and then answer the following questions.  There will be a multiple choice quiz which will be based off of the homework questions (in other words, you need to study the answers to the homework questions).  It is not an open book test.  You are expected to complete all the homework questions, study them and be prepared for your quiz.  If you are having difficulty with any questions, please make sure you come see me for extra help.  Please remember the importance of answering questions in your own words so that you understand the concepts.  It is about understanding, not memorization. (due Thursday)

  1. Read chapter #9 (pgs. 180-197)
  2. Answer the following questions:
    1. Define and give an example for the following terms:
      1. Subsistence agriculture
      2. Commercial agriculture
      3. Specialized agriculture
    2. p.196 #4a (Answer found on p.190)
    3. You are in Walmart, and you hear a disgruntled shopper saying that bananas are way too expensive.  Please explain how you could politely explain to them the reasons for the price.

Art - Please think about the discussion we had in class, and look at the notes you were to take at the end of class, to answer the following question:
"Do you believe that the media (entertainment world) is a positive influence on us - or are they a negative influence". (Due Tuesday)

Health - Healthy Eating Assignment due May 12.  If you need a computer for your assignment, please make sure that you get any required materials at home, or during a morning recess.

Friday Folders - Signed and returned (due)

Health - Please inform your parents that we will begin the Growth and Development (Sex Ed.) unit in approximately 2 weeks.

*On Thursday May 26th, we will be having our Spring Concert.  Students have been working hard to prepare for the event.  We hope that all students will be available to come and perform as part of the band on this evening.  We also look forward to seeing families enjoy the evening.  The Book Fair will be running this evening for any families interested in making purchases.

Science - Please make sure that you keep up to date with Mrs. Foster's assignment sheet.

Science Centre - Permission forms are overdue.  Please let me know if you will be unable to attend.

Tin Roof Fundraiser - Please feel free to share the following links with your parents, and discuss with them what we will be doing here at school to support those who could use our support in Uganda.  Thank you in advance :)   https://goo.gl/UagQfw
