Mr. Carr is creating a patio in his backyard.  The dimensions are 150 feet x 150 feet.  He wants all the patio stones to fit perfectly.
a)  What are at least 3 different sized patio stones he could use?  Please attempt to provide at least one of your options as a rectangle.
b)  For each patio stone size, how many of each would he need to complete the patio?

Social Studies - Please complete your "European & First Nations Worldview T-chart".  You can review the video links below to remind you of what we watched.  Please remember that the purpose is to identify on each side of the chart what the events you saw in the videos tell us about what the Europeans found important, and what the First Nations people found important.  (Due Monday)

3. Basically your passion project can be anything that you are passionate about, want to get better at, know more about, etc.

Silent Reading books - Please always have at least 2 books at school for silent reading purposes.  These should be texts that will appropriately challenge you.

Below is another text which reflects what we have been learning about creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.

To my student who shared an incorrect answer in class,

I want to thank you!  I want to thank you on behalf of the entire class.  In putting your hand up, you demonstrated courage. You showed everyone around you that you understand the value in an incorrect answer.  You showed that you understand the valuable learning that comes from getting an answer incorrect so that you can learn something new.

When you demonstrated the courage to try, and be incorrect, you gave everyone around you permission to try and fail as well.  In our class this year, we need to fail, and evaluate those failures, so that we can learn. And since we want to learn a lot, we need to be willing to fail a lot.  The pursuit of knowledge and skills is a very active process. We have to “go after” the learning. And a very big part of this process is having the courage to try new things, and fail often, so that we can learn lots!

So again, thank you so very much.  Thank you for having the courage to try, and fail, and thank you for demonstrating that courage to your classmates.  In doing so you gave them permission to try, fail and learn. You not only added to your own learning, but you influenced your peers in a way which will allow them to learn more themselves as they work to demonstrate the same courage that you just did.  You have made a tremendously positive impact on our class.

Keep up the great work.  Let’s keep “failing” in positive ways so that you can accomplish your personal best and succeed.

Have a great evening,

Mr. Carr
