Wednesday February 22, 2023

  Good evening everyone,

Please find your homework below....

Course Selection - Course selection will be taking place between February 16th and February 24th.  All students are responsible for the following...

1. Decide with your parent(s)/guardian(s) what courses you plan to select.  Please have this completed by February 15th.

2.  Let Mr. Carr know if you have any questions.

3.  Mr. Carr will sit with each student and help them submit their course selections.

4.  Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will eventually be required to approve the course selections.  High Schools will email families directly.

5.  If you are attending a non-YRDSB high school, please contact that high school for details around course selection.

High School Info - 2 new resources have been added to "High School Information" on Google Classroom.  These documents may be helfpul as you select courses.  Some additional pieces of information to consider...

Students will select 8 courses for next year (4 per semester).  There are 6 compulsory courses to select, and 2 choices.

- Please select 2 alternatives in case you do not get your first selection(s).

- It is strongly recommended that students make a grade 9 Arts selection in order to meet this compulsory credit.

- In "Group 2" of the "Orbit" document (recently posted on Google Classroom) there is a Business Studies option.  Please note that if this is something that interests you, there is a grade 9 option under Business studies that you can select.  It is titled "Introduction to Business".

For students who have been away - I know there is sickness going through the class.  Please take time to feel better.  If you need any support catching up, please don't hesitate to email me at jonathan.carr@yrdsb.ca.  In the meantime, if you are able, you can follow along and catch up on assignments using this homework blog.  Please review the days you have missed and try to catch up.  If this is causing you to feel overwhelmed, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!  I would like to help make this more manageable.  The most important homework is to get rest and hopefully feel better :)

Science - In class we had a deep thinking discussion about gravity.  You were provided with prompts and ideas to reflect upon.  You were asked to reflect with what you have learned, realized and/or share any questions that you have as a result of the discussion.  In other words, you were asked to share the thoughts and questions you have developed as a result of the discussion.  Please record your thoughts below the questions in the Task #4 document.  (Due Friday)
