Tuesday February 13, 2024

Please find this evening's homework below....

Course Selections - It is strongly recommended that you ensure that your course selections have been reviewed with your families prior to Thursday.  On Thursday you can begin officially making your course selections.  We will do this in class, as you do not want to submit before reviewing with a teacher.  But please make sure you have discussed with your family the courses you plan to take.  Please see Mr. Carr on Monday if you have any questions.

Parent Volunteers Needed - On February 22nd, we are looking for an adult volunteer to come with us to the ROC for snow tubing.  Please let Mr. Carr know if your parent/guardian is interested.  Thank you! :)

Math - For those who were absent today, if you are feeling well enough, please use the links/resources on lesson #2 (see student unit plans) to answer these 3 questions.... (Due tomorrow)

1.  What is compound interest?
2.  Explain the benefit(s) of compound interest.
3.  Investigate compound interest by using the compound interest calculator.

Literacy- Now that you have decided what your narrative story is REALLY about, and have also placed your story on a story arc, you will now complete your next draft.  Your next draft is due on Monday.  Please remember the following that we discussed in class....  (Due Monday)

1. Give the reader a reason to "turn the page".  Keep it interesting, and stay on topic.

2.  Be descriptive.  The reader should be able to picture what is happening in their "mind's eye".

3.  Rewrite!  Rewrite!  Rewrite!  It is okay to keep parts of your flash draft that work, but don't try and save what isn't working.  It is much better to rewrite.  This is a very important part of the narrative writing process.

Literacy - Please place your story on a story arc.  There is a copy of the story arc on Google Classroom.  (Due)

Literacy - Please complete a spoken word on your choice.  The task is described on THIS SLIDE.  This is the task I provided you with 15 minutes to do in class.  Therefore, it does not need to be long, and it should not take you much longer than 15 minutes to complete.  The purpose of the task is to think deeply and creatively, and to do so quickly - writing whatever comes to your mind.  (Due)

Science - For Task #2, please complete questions 1 & 2 ONLY (Due)

Have a great evening,

Mr. Carr
