Thursday January 8, 2015

Good evening ladies & gentlemen,

Due to the extreme cold weather, tomorrow's winter elective activities have been postponed.  Please make sure you give your parents the note that went home this evening.  An explanation is also provided below:

Dear Parents,
Our Winter Electives scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed on account of the extreme temperatures and wind chills.  The weather network is calling for 56 km/h winds.  This will make for very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous skiing/tubing conditions.
The trip has been rescheduled to Friday, January 23rd.  Tomorrow will be a regular (Day 5) school day.
The activities chosen for Outing #1 will now take place on Thursday, January 15th.  And the activities chosen for Outing #2 will now take place on Friday, January 23rd.
If this change raises any concerns or creates any issues, please do not hesitate to contact me.  My contact information is below.

Kind Regards
J. Carr

Help for your Literacy homework:
As you all know, we continued working on our realistic fiction stories today.  We worked on developing our characters by "knowing how much change is in their pockets" (this means knowing the characteristics of your characters really, really well).  We then worked on coming up with ideas for events in our story that could allow the reader to learn the characteristics of our characters.  For Tuesday, I would like you to finish coming up with ideas for events in your story that share what your ALL your characters are like.  If you need help, you can have your parents help you generate ideas.  Remember, the example I gave you from my story was the fact that my Dad taking me to a baseball practice showed that he loved sports, loved his kids, and was kind.  Your job is to come up with events for your story which teaches the reader about your character.
