Wednesday May 16, 2018

Good evening ladies & gentlemen,

Hansen Palooza is coming in June.  This is a huge event for our school, and a very significant fundraiser.  It has been as a result of this fundraiser that our school has been able to provide more resources (especially technology) that our students would not have been given otherwise.  We are in need of adult volunteers.  Please see the info below from our School Council.

Hansen Palooza is always so much fun for everyone! This year it will be held on Friday June 8 from 3:40p – 8:30p. Rain or shine! To make it successful though, a large number of people are needed to help so we are looking for many volunteers from RHPS and the Community. There is a particularly strong need for adult volunteers during the event. All money raised will help support the academic, literacy, arts and athletic programs at our school. This is a RHPSPAC Fundraising Event. Help is needed with event set up, various activities during the night and with clean up. Many hands are needed! So we ask that you please volunteer by completing this form OR emailing rick.Hansen.ps@sc.yrdsb.ca

Please find your homework below....

Hansen Palooza - Please ask your parents if they are able to volunteer. on June 8th.

Hansen Palooza - Our class will be creating a classroom basket for auction.  A note went home with more details.  Please consider donating, as Hansen Palooza is a huge fundraiser for our school and provides funding that goes right back to providing resources that support you as students.  School Council is asking for items that cost approximately $10...or you can also choose to make a $10 donation if you would rather.

Math - Test Friday May 25 on 3D Measurement.  Please see Mr. Carr if you have any questions.  (Due Friday)

Literacy - WOW presentation for Autism Awareness.  We will again be going over them in class and receiving peer feedback.  Please practice your presentation at home so that you are ready to present.  (Due tomorrow)

Literacy - Final WOW presentations for Autism Awareness start next week.  Please see Google Classroom for the date you are presenting.  (Due Tuesday)

Literacy - Please complete the following questions below.  Each answer must be 150 words in length.  (Due tomorrow)

1. How do using your reading comprehension strategies help you develop new ideas and knowledge when reading? You can use the "equation" below to help you answer if you would like.

Prior knowledge + reading comprehension strategies + new learning = new ideas that you can use.

2. How can you use these skills when listening - not just reading? How can you practice this in school?

Geography - p.158 #2 & p.165 #10b ....these are due tomorrow. As we discussed, you were given enough
time in class to complete them, and were told that you needed to make sure you had the notes you needed
to complete your answers at home if you did not complete. The textbook cannot go home. (Due tomorrow)

Literature Circles - Discussion #3.  See Google Classroom for everything you need.  Please make sure you review everything to make sure all expectations met.  You will not be able to participate if you are not prepared. (due Friday)
