Good evening everyone!

Today we had some very honest conversations about the expectations of our classroom.  Please remember that my expectations of you are directly related to what I know you are capable of accomplishing.  Each and every one of you is wonderful, and you have the ability to succeed tremendously in this classroom - and beyond.  But in order for this to happen, you need to take action by following that which is expected of you.  If you ever have any questions about anything, or are confused over something (even my expectations of you), please never hesitate to ask!

Literacy - Please complete reading the "Attitude Text" on Google Classroom.  This is the text we have been reading in class both Friday and today.  Please complete your notes for the chapter, and then create your synthesis from your notes.  You are encouraged to create as many as you can think of.  Please remember that the prompt we are using to create your synthesis is "I can use this information in the following ways...."  (Due)

Math - Please complete the following activity that we worked on today in class.... (Due tomorrow)

You have 28 students in the room.  1/4 have positive attitudes, 3/4 have negative attitudes.  What is the overall "emotional charge" or "positive/negative attitude" in the room if you do the following...
a) Remove 4 negative students from the room?
b) Remove 4 positive students from the room?

For each scenario, make sure that you show your answer in an equation and on a number line.

Math - Chapter 1 Test Thursday.  (Please note the extension that has been given for this).

Picture Day - Is Tuesday October 8th.

Below are some links to texts which promote mindsets that we are seeking to develop in our  class this year in order to enhance our learning experiences.  Each text is a teacher writing to their student in an effort to provide encouragement.  I hope you enjoy them.  Please let me know what you think :)

I encourage you to share and discuss these with your parents.  In order to view them, I believe you will need to be logged into your Google Apps account.
